Fly over the Himalaya to Lhasa, then cross the Tibetan plateau by road to the north face of Everest and return overland to Kathmandu. On the way you see the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, the turquoise Yamdrok Lake, the great stupa of Gyantse and Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, and wake up below Everest at Rongbuk. Most of the trip is above 3,600 m, so the first two days in Lhasa are kept easy. Foreign travellers need a Chinese group visa and a Tibet Travel Permit, which we arrange from Kathmandu; send us your passport details at least 30 days before departure.
