A short ridge trek from Pokhara that gets you remarkably close to Machapuchare (6,993 m), the sacred fishtail peak. The trail climbs through quiet rhododendron and oak forest, then out onto an open grassy ridge to High Camp and the Mardi Himal viewpoints. Lodges are simple and the route sees far fewer trekkers than Annapurna Base Camp. The summit day to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m) is long, so a good level of fitness helps.
